Chen Yongying crafted his teapots during the Kangxi Emperor's reign — one of the most culturally vibrant eras in Chinese history, when the imperial court's love of refined art elevated tea culture to new heights. Working in the legendary purple clay tradition of Yixing, Chen earned a place in the historical record at a time when only the most skilled hands were remembered.
