Chuán Lú Hú

传炉壶
Four-footed, full-bellied, and impossibly dignified.

The Chuan Lu (传炉壶) takes its name from a traditional incense burner, and you can see why — its plump, rounded body perches on four sturdy little feet, giving it a grounded, ceremonial presence. Square in spirit yet soft in form, this teapot pulls off a rare trick: it feels both bold and elegant at the same time. It was a favorite shape from the Qing Dynasty into the early 20th century, and master potter Gu Jingzhou famously crafted a stunning example in 1934.

Did You Know?

The Chuan Lu's design is directly inspired by ancient bronze incense burners used in Chinese rituals — so every time you brew a cup, you're pouring tea from a vessel with thousands of years of ceremonial history behind it.
