The Shuiping ("water level") teapot is the unsung hero of gongfu tea culture, beloved across Fujian, Guangdong, and Southeast Asia for centuries. Its compact, balanced shape isn't just elegant — it's brilliantly practical, designed so the teapot floats perfectly upright when placed in water, confirming it's filled to just the right level. Small but mighty, this little pot has been the centerpiece of one of the world's most refined tea rituals.
The name 'Shuiping' literally means 'water level' — the teapot is traditionally tested by floating it in water, and a perfectly crafted one will sit horizontally level, spout, lid, and handle all in balance. It's a built-in quality check from the potter!

“水平壹”历史悠久,流行于我国广东 、福建及东南亚地区 ，是“功夫 茶”的主要用有具 。 所谓“功夫茶”， 并不单指茶事细节的讲究 ， 更重要的是 一种规范化、仪式化的饮茶方式 。清乾隆时期喜光斗《闽琐记》云 :“道龙 溪,邂志和作半中遇一野扯，延人淮室,地炉活火，亮车相待，壤绝小, 仅供 一咀，然甫下咽 ，即沁透心脾 。 ”品功夫茶对茶具的要求极高 ，清道光周凯 著《厦门志 》:“俗好中茶 ,器具精小，壶必目备公索，杯必日若深杯 。” 水平壶逐渐成为紫砂壶的一个重要门类 。清代浙北著名学者及鉴藏家张 廷济为家藏惠备丐紫砂小壶木座篆刻“一滴壶藏千金”'， 紫砂小壶受欢迎程 度可见一 顾景闻的“朱泥水平索”主要制作于学艺之初，常用“墨缘斋意堂制” 的底印和“景记”的把印，亦见底部铃盖“研溪惠备臣制"- 顾氏“朱泥水平 索”, 形式多样 ,普遍具有选泥考究、红润光泽、做工精细 、简雅有神的特点 。 顾景舟制作的其他款的水平坦 1 陈行一著 :《一滴壶值千金 1999 年总第68期,第18页， 践张廷济藏识明惠备下紫砂小过 》《紫玉金不 ( 陶文化 )》
