Yàn Dēng Hú

艳灯壶
Everyday lamp, reimagined in clay perfection.

Inspired by the humble oil lamps that once lit ordinary homes across China, the Yàn Dēng Hú (Glamour Lamp Teapot) transforms an everyday object into something extraordinary. Master potter Gu Jingzhou gave it a wide, bowl-shaped body that narrows toward the base, with a raised lid that mimics the gentle dome of lamp oil sitting in its vessel. It's a teapot that quietly celebrates the beauty hiding in the most ordinary corners of daily life.

This particular version was crafted by Gu Jingzhou in the late 1930s and bears his personal seal 'Jing Zhou' on the lid — making it not just a teapot, but a signed work of art from one of the most celebrated Yixing masters of the 20th century.
