Shàng Jiān Xiàn Yuán Hú

The Shang Jian Xian Yuan Hu is a masterclass in subtle geometry — its body rolls like a perfect sphere, but a gentle taper toward the base keeps it from feeling puffy or top-heavy. That distinctive convex line riding the upper shoulder gives the whole pot a quiet lift, like a deep breath held with perfect posture. An early gem from legendary master Gu Jingzhou, it proves that in Yixing pottery, the smallest curve can make all the difference.
This teapot was crafted in the late 1930s and bears the seal 'Shou Ping' on the lid — a personal mark that helps collectors and scholars trace it directly back to Gu Jingzhou, one of the most celebrated Yixing teapot makers of the 20th century.
