Fǎng Gǔ Hú

仿鼓壶
A drum you brew tea in — seriously.

The Fang Gu Hu, or Imitation Drum teapot, takes its inspiration from the rounded, taut shape of a traditional Chinese drum — compact, confident, and satisfying to hold. Its clean circular form and subtle proportions make it a perennial favorite among collectors who appreciate understated elegance. Some of the most prized examples were made by the legendary master Gu Jingzhou, whose versions of this classic shape are considered benchmarks of Yixing craftsmanship.

Did You Know?

Master Gu Jingzhou made the Fang Gu Hu one of his signature shapes, and teapots bearing his 'Jingzhou handmade' seal — even from his later years in the 1990s — are among the most sought-after pieces in the entire Yixing tradition.
