Ancient wells, timeless clay, one perfect pour.
The Tall Well Curb Teapot takes its name from the stone cylinders that surround traditional Chinese wells — and once you see it, the resemblance is unmistakable. Born in the 1970s and 80s, this stately pot stands proud with a smooth columnar body that tapers gently at top and bottom, radiating quiet strength. The layered disc decoration on the lid is a showstopper: peek straight down from above and the rings ripple outward like water disturbed by a falling drop.
The 'well curb' (井栏) design is one of several classic Yixing shapes inspired by everyday objects from traditional Chinese village life — a reminder that the greatest art often starts with the most ordinary things.
