When a teapot decides geometry is an art form.
The 矮砖方壶 (Short Brick Square Pot) is a study in satisfying geometry — a squat, no-nonsense teapot built from flat panels joined with razor-sharp edges and a lid so precisely fitted it seems almost locked in place. Dating to the 1970s and stamped with the mark of Jingzhou, this pot trades the soft curves of classic Yixing ware for bold, architectural confidence. It's the kind of teapot that looks like it means business.
Square Yixing teapots are notoriously harder to make than round ones — flat panels must be cut, fitted, and joined by hand with near-perfect precision, since there's nowhere to hide an uneven seam on a straight edge.
